Vietnam’s tropical forests support rich biodiversity and a precious, sensitive ecosystem. 25 million people depend on forest products for subsistence. Over-exploitation of the land has endangered many native species of plants and animals, and increased the impact of natural disasters. Planting trees here will help conserve threatened species, regulate climate, provide economic stability for local villagers, and protect watershed areas that serve the community on a daily basis.
Our experienced partners in Vietnam work hard to ensure tree-planting is both environmentally and economically sustainable. By planting native fruit trees and replenishing endangered timber species, we can restore balance to the area’s flora and fauna while educating the local community about forest conservation. The project will create jobs for villagers (including site clearance, planting, tending, protection), and provide long-term income through collecting fruits of Son Tra trees.
To maximize the impact of your donation, our partner will determine the most appropriate species of tree to plant, depending on the time of year. Native species that will be planted include dipterocarpus alatus and hopea adorata.
OneTreePlanted is a non-profit organisation based in Vermont with a mission to make it simple for you to plant trees around the world. Started in 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. Fast-forward to today, they now work with awesome reforestations partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help them get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity.
