Offset in Peru

Peru is a megadiverse country country in western South America with habitats ranging from the arid plains of the Pacific coastal region in the west to the peaks of the Andes mountains extending from the north to the southeast of the country to the tropical Amazon Basin rainforest in the east with the Amazon river. Peruvian territory was home to several ancient cultures, including the Inca Empire.

Overview

Peru is home to one of the 10 most-forested area of any country in the world with more than half the country, approximately 260,000 square mile, is covered in trees. Making Peru one of the 10 most biodiverse countries in the world, with iconic species including the Jaguar, Black Spider Monkey, the Poison Dart Frog and so many more. With over 330,000 people who depend directly on the Peru's forests for their livelihoods, One Tree Planted has made it a priority to protect, restore and reforest Peruvian forests.

Impact

With the Amazon recently listed by WWF as a one of the most threatened areas to deforestation, specifically from small-scale agriculture, commercial mining and illegal logging, our tree plating projects are aimed at protecting Peru's beautifully diverse forests and additionally restore degraded land.
